Still trolling for orange cones
I think this presser is about fishing.  But in this case, we are fishing for orange cones, undervalued teenagers on the TM, and even a few old timers to leaven the new side.  I wish I could say something insightful, or make a joke about chumming the waters, but I have nothing to say beyond that it is hard work looking for things that used to be able to hide so much more easily before anyone could spray evaluations for pennies.

The sad part in all this is that I am rebuilding something that doesn't really need rebuilding.  Duffster bought some great players, but he did so while the market value was a bit higher.  I am retooling to specifically tighten the age grouping of the club and finding that his very good players are only selling for average prices.

Fortunately this is balanced by the collapse of the value of youths on the TM.  These are good times to buy 17-4's, 18-5's and such.  You have to push for a bar better to really see the price step up.

I have to confess that I am not into building a 16-4 standard team, I may regret it later, but the truth is that I would prefer a hard trainer to a bar at this stage in my career.  I am a cheapskate now when it comes to training (which is the single most expensive thing in the game), so I will make due with less skill, provided I don't have to hit that training button all of the damned time.

I seriously doubt that even an 18-4 standard team would find it hard to win the UL, provided they were all developed to their max potential, and were all the same age.  The trickiest part in all of it, is avoiding having a bunch of 25 year olds that are still in Div 5.  You need to be able to start your climb and make it to the top before old age passes you by.

In other news, W_A_R and GR FC put a slight crimp on the Pandas reign of terror this week.  It is only one game, but it is very rewarding to finally see things break in the Riverhawks favor for a change.  The Pandas have been far too lucky against them in home matches.  Hopefully they can enjoy a season of good health, good fortune and the quality tactics that I know W_A_R is capable of.  He might claim that he is building on my legacy, but the truth is that I lacked the fire to take that team back to where it belongs.  It is great to see new blood at the helm, and with the verve to see things through.
