For the last few days, the Demon Angels boss has been soul searching as to why he can’t get motivated to manage his Xpert Team, Demon Angels. Then following a chance debate with another manager, the reason became apparent .... the boss was chasing a lost love!
"Ever since I left my original Xpert Team, I've been chasing, nae hunting for a team that will satisfy me.” boss StuartWheatley explained. “After hooking up with first Goliath and then Demon Angels, I still remain unfulfilled. That has drawn me to the conclusion that I should never have left my first love; Jack Diamonds.”
“I was with them for 6 seasons.” He added through choked back tears, “And whilst it was bliss in the first year or so, we then grew too familiar. I thought it was apathy, but in truth, we were right for one another from the start. But I had a wandering eye. I wanted a more mature model. One that could teach me! Make me a better coach if you will. And fulfill my every dream.”
“So, one night, after an argument or bad result (I can’t remember which, but boy do I regret everything I said) I demanded that we part company. I went hunting for a replacement in the wee small hours of the night, and fell into the welcoming bosom of Goliath. We had fun, but it was short lived. After a few weeks, I felt sick to my stomach. What had I done? What had JDs done to deserve this treatment?”
“It wasn’t their fault. It was mine!” he continued, “So I threw myself into my work. Determined to forget that Golden League goddess ……. But it was no use. Every victory, every fine youth player or undervalued signing made me think …. What would JDs have done with them?”
“So, like an alcoholic who admits to his demons, this realisation has drawn me to take action. I will tonight tender my resignation from Demon Angels, and serve 2 months in solitude whilst I get myself together. I vow to pine no more, and will search out another team to be my second love. My first is gone forever, but by starting afresh with a younger model, maybe I’ll regain my drive for another Xpert Team …… and find love again!”
With a tear in each eye, the boss then left the pressroom.
Demon Angels next match will be against Inter da Morgadinha in the Cup, and boss StuartWheatley will be watching, from afar.
